Teaching Approach:
My studio offers lessons to children age 3 to 19. I am very mindful of a child’s physiological, psychological and musical development in my teaching choices. I use Music Learning Theory as a basis for teaching students to play by ear, improvise by ear and read by ear. I am currently writing my own piano learning series, so I use that in my studio. My supplemental material includes classical repertoire, pop/rock/folk songs, and lively and accessible “teaching” pieces. Attention to the comprehension of meter and harmonic function informs solfège exercises, improvisation, sight reading and interpretation. Students are also encouraged to pursue their individual interests. I offer several performance opportunities annually.

B.A. in Music, Vassar College. M.Mus in Piano Pedagogy, The Hartt School. Musical Director, The Lisa Leizman Dance Company. Teacher of individual and class piano at the Hartt School, its Community Division and in my private studio. Also, I have performed as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician.
