I teach the Simply Music piano method. This revolutionary, Australian-developed method offers a breakthrough in music education. Students of all ages play great-sounding contemporary, classical, gospel, blues and duet pieces immediately, from their very first lessons. Reading music is postponed; this is a playing-based approach, which includes improvisation, chords and composition from the beginning.
My B.A. in Music Composition is from Yale. I have been a songwriter/composer, choir director, producer, arranger, accompanist, saloon singer, copyist and classroom teacher. In 2009, the Dayton Philharmonic premiered my “Songs of Rumi”, a 30-minute piece for chamber orchestra and chorus. I grew up in Northampton, and moved back to my hometown in 2010. I lead the Peace In The Valley Community Choir at the Northampton Community Music Center. My piano teachcing career began only recently when I discovered the Simply Music method. My students’ ages range from 7 to 80.
